On Monday, Bungie formally announced that the release date of Destiny 2: The Final Shape will now be June 4, 2024. Following the poorly received Lightfall release of Destiny 2, Bungie began laying off employees at the studio, which led to rumors of a delay in the expansion’s release last month.

According to reports, Bungie let go of about 8% of its workforce, impacting positions in social media, engineering, community management, quality assurance, and other areas. After receiving unfavorable feedback and player sentiment from the Lightfall expansion, the Halo creator is now taking its time to make The Final Shape right.
