With his trusty katana and well-honed ninja skills, Hayate must navigate through treacherous landscapes and intricately designed levels filled with traps, puzzles, and enemies. The player guides Hayate through the “Castle of Evil,” a foreboding fortress that serves as the stronghold of Lougi and his minions. Along the way, Hayate will encounter a variety of adversaries, such as the fire-breathing Marco Killmore, the Wolves of Seidenfeld, and the Immortal Skeleton Warriors of the Undead.

The plot follows a ninja trying to protect his only son from a cabal of ruthless gangsters. It was very successful at the box office, despite receiving mixed reviews from critics.
